Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped out during the 2023 filing season!
Giving back feels good. Especially when it’s for a cause as worthwhile and rewarding as AARP Foundation Tax-Aide.
We’re looking for volunteers who want to make a difference by directly helping people who can’t afford to pay for professional tax preparation — and often miss out on much-needed tax breaks and refunds as a result.
You don’t have to be a tax pro to volunteer with us. We have an extensive training program and all volunteers will be IRS certified. Whether you’re looking to stay sharp during retirement, learn new career skills, or simply share experiences with other like-minded volunteers, there are many ways you can help.
Join our team and help your neighbors get the credits and deductions they deserve.
Please note that once we train you that we would appreciate a commitment of at least one day a week beginning the first week in February thru April 15th. With the exception of the Appointment Scheduler position, depending on the site a days' commitment would most likely equal 5-6 hours. We do pay mileage reimbursement for volunteers who work at least 40 hours during a tax season.
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out an application at http://aarpfoundation.org/taxaidevolunteer.
If you are already an AARP member you will be asked to log into your AARP account. If you are not an AARP member you will be asked to register an account (not a request to join AARP).
If you have any issues with the application process, send an email to: volunteer@nvtaxaide.org.
Enjoy fine print? Be a volunteer preparer. Work with taxpayers directly, preparing Federal tax returns to find credits and deductions they’ve earned or to seek a refund.
Love working with people? Be a facilitator or greeter. Welcome taxpayers as they arrive, help to organize the tax paperwork and manage the overall flow of service.
Work from home? We have a scheduling opportunity where you can choose your own hours to return phone calls from taxpayers using a computer program.
Good with technology? Be a technology assistant. Help income tax preparers with computer usage, ensure taxpayer data security, and manage computer equipment.
Speak a second language? Your skill is valued! We need bilingual speakers in all roles, and interpreters who can assist other volunteers.
Do you love marketing? Be a communications coordinator. You will promote Tax-Aide services and recruit volunteers in your community.
Do you have a passion for leading? Be an administrative volunteer. Manage Tax-Aide sites, make sure everything runs smoothly, track volunteer assignments and site activities, and maintain quality control.
Do you have a passion for teaching others? We need volunteers to assist with our training program.
